Testimonials
I'm in the process of setting up a 35G Reef, with a remote sump/plenum. I put a Durso standpipe in the overflow and it works perfectly, very little adjustment needed with the holes. All-in-all a simple, effective and relatively attractive design. Good work and thank you!

Perforated Pipe Strainer for Durso Standpipes
perforatedpipe.jpg

Douglas J Miannay provided this picture showing how he reused the perforated pipe that came with his original Oceanic standpipe kit.

A 1¼ to 1 inch slip reducer is placed into the standpipe opening of the Street-Ell. The perforated pipe fits into the reducer. Doug used a 1 inch threaded reducer on the bottom on the perforated pipe and capped it off with a threaded end-cap.

Note: This modification will restrict the volume of water that can be processed since the opening of the standpipe has been restricted to 1 inch.  During testing of strainers with 1 inch reducers I was not happy with the performance.  This should work fine for low flow installations.
